Broadening access to and enhancing undergraduate research experiences is a central priority in UBC’s strategic plan. As such, the university has committed $1 million in strategic funds over two years to fund the Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE).
A call for proposals for innovative pilot projects is launching today (January 7, 2019) and is open to faculty, staff and students from both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Funds may be requested for one year (up to $50,000) or two-year projects (up to $100,000).
All principal applicants must submit a non-competitive Notice of Intent to apply by February 4, 2019, with full proposals due on March 4, 2019. Successful projects will be announced the week of March 18, 2019.
More details about the competition, including eligibility, proposal guidelines, assessment criteria and review processes can be found at: https://research.ubc.ca/program-undergraduate-research-experience. In addition, information sessions about the competition will be held on both campuses.
