Prizes, Awards or Honours Recipient

The National Killam Program announced today the 2023 Killam Prize and Dorothy Killam Fellowship winners, recognizing the inclusive collaborators, research leaders and barrier breakers who are driving the future of Canada.

The recipients included UBC's Dr. Sally Otto, University Killam Professor and professor of zoology in the Faculty of Science as well as Dr. Pieter Cullis, from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Medicine.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the Science family of journals, has elected Dr. Rashid Sumaila to the newest class of AAAS Fellows, among the most distinct honours within the global scientific community.

Appointees include Drs. Allen Eaves, Paula Gordon, David Ley and Pitman Potter

Two UBC researchers have been awarded Outstanding Innovation awards by Mitacs, a national organization that empowers Canadian innovation through effective partnerships that deliver solutions to our most pressing problems.
