Translational Cancer Genomics Trainee Collaboration And Travel Award

The funds from the UBC Excellence Fund as part of the TCG cluster have been used to make Awards to eligible applicants for travel and other expenses to a collaborator’s location or laboratory, or to attend conference or other educational forum related to TCG and where a collaborative meeting or opportunity is planned. A total of more than $56,000 was awarded to 32 trainees to support travel that enabled collaborative interactions to further their research in translational cancer genomics.

Following a notice of award, the program administrator will coordinate fund administration with successful applicants. Award conditions will include:

• Within 4 weeks of the collaborative meeting – a written synopsis of the collaborative meetings, along with plans for further follow-up.
  
  • The fund reserves the right to cancel any award and disallow expense claims where a synopsis has not been provided.
• Within 60 days of the completion of travel – completed expense claim, in compliance with UBC expense claim policy.
  
  • The fund reserves the right to cancel any award and disallow expense claims that are made after 60 days and/or which do not comply with the travel expense policies of both UBC and the trainee’s host institution.

Reports and claims may be required sooner if fiscal year end or other administrative constraints apply. Actual dates for all reports and claims will be specified in the notice of award.

Awards will be paid out as reimbursement of actual expenses for travel, accommodation and other associated costs. Awards are not lump sum and will not be paid out as advances.
