We would like to share upcoming pricing changes for the Animal Care Services Diagnostic & Research Histology Laboratory. To offset significant increases in supplier and labor costs over the past three years, we are increasing our diagnostic lab service prices beginning September 1, 2021.

VPRI Unit: Animal Care and Use Program

For the foreseeable future, McGill University is unable to distribute controlled substances to researchers holding a Health Canada Exemption to Use a Controlled Substance for Scientific Purposes. It is unclear when or if they will be able to continue to distribute controlled substances.

In the meantime, Animal Care Services has opened an account with CDMV to allow researchers to order controlled drugs listed on their Health Canada Exemption.

Genome BC, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, and the BCCDC Foundation for Public Health have partnered for the first time to fund rapid response research initiatives that will have a direct impact – in a matter of months – on people in British Columbia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Advancing Climate Change Science and Technology Request for Proposals (RFP) at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is a new funding opportunity available in spring 2021. The objective of this RFP is to support projects that will strengthen Canada’s science capacity to identify, accelerate, and evaluate mitigation actions towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 in Canada.

The Advancing Change Climate Science and Technology Request for Proposals (RFP) at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is a new funding opportunity available in spring 2021.

The Tri-Agency Research Data Management (RDM) Policy has now been launched. The agencies (SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR) plan to implement the policy incrementally through an ongoing engagement process, with notable dates highlighted below.

Thirteen ongoing projects led by UBC researchers were awarded a total of $939,626 in supplementary funding through the SARS-CoV-2 variants supplement: COVID-19 Rapid Research Funding Opportunity streams. Funding supports six projects led by researchers at UBC and affiliated helath authority research institutes

A total of 35 emerging and established research excellence clusters led by researchers on the Vancouver campus will be supported in 2021/22.

This total includes 24 awards made through the 2021/22 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition (GCRC) and eleven clusters entering the second year of their current award.

Canada’s Department of National Defence has announced its support for 48 research and development projects, valued at approximately $8.64 million, aimed at addressing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The projects were funded through the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program.

Three projects led by UBC researchers received support for their projects through contribution agreements with the Department of National Defence.
